Animals

Animals are an integral part of any "homestead".  We currently have 2 dogs (Cookie & Cleo), 1 cat (Patrick), 2 goats (LuLu & Sissy), a rooster (Rusty), and 3 hens.  We lost two hens to the weather this year, so my husband has been working hard on finishing our new poultry house so we don't have this issue again...  I say "poultry house" and not chicken coop, because I am hoping to get some ducks and turkeys as well, once it's done.   We are also looking forward to getting a couple of feeder pigs in the Spring, and a cow once our outbuilding and fencing situation permits.  Pictures coming soon!

Update 7/27/12 - We now have:

2 dogs (Cookie & Cleo), 1 cat (Patrick), 4 goats (LuLu, Sissy, Sugar & Snickers), 3 roosters (Rusty, Ronald, & Pete), and 14 hens, 2 guinea hens, 4 female ducks and 1 drake, & 2 female rabbits.  We will be getting a buck rabbit soon and start breeding the rabbits for our own meat, and are still looking at getting pigs soon.
